Drawings and wash paintings
René Crevel produced a considerable number of studies, ink drawings and wash paintings. They were initially based on the cliffs of Fécamp and the surrounding area, the seashore at Yport or the surrounding countryside. In his monochrome washes, the arrangement of light and dark masses composes homogeneous structures that are outlined in space.
In other close-up drawings, the lines are firmly drawn in black ink: they delimit the contours and streak the surface. During his travels in Brittany and Normandy, he never stopped filling his sketchbooks.
